Meet Our Horses

I'm Smokey and I am a 27 year old Quarter Thoroughbred. I consider myself to be quite tolerant and playful and I love to have my beautiful tail brushed and admired. I was retired from a horse camp in Marble Falls and have made my home at Open My World as a Therapy Horse since 2008.

I'm Blaze, I am a sweet and gentle horse from the breed know as Morgans. I have a very distinguished wide white stripe down the middle of my face that is called a blaze, which is where I got my name. I joined the therapy group in 2011.

I'm Patches, the only pony working as a therapy horse at Open My World. I joined the group in spring of 2009. If you have ever read the book Misty of Chincoteague you will recognize the name of my breed, a Chincoteague pony. I would have to say I am playful, friendly and like attention. I don't really like to be the last horse to be taken in at dinner time, either! By dinner time, I'm as hungry as a horse and ready to eat!

My name is Ginger, and I am a Palamino mare. I joined the group in 2011. I'm not very big, but I'm strong and willing. When I arrived I was so surprised and happy to find that my old stablemate, Flame, was working at Open My World. We had a great reunion and nickered to each other nearly all night! I was so happy to find an old friend among the many new friends I now have at Open My World. Would you come be my friend too?

I'm Blue. I'm an American Quarter Horse who joined the group at the beginning of 2012. My name comes from my beautiful color, which is known in the horse world as blue roan. I'm really a mix of black and white, but sometimes when the light is just right, I almost look silver or blue. I love helping people so I'm really happy about helping everyone who comes to Open My World for therapy.

I'm Flame, a paint horse. I'm a strong fellow with a kind heart. I have to have a special diet, but you would never know it to look at me. I am full of energy and I really want to please. I hope you will come get to know me. I can't wait to meet you.

We are mini horses named Beau and Belle. Our job at Open My World is to help people who might be a little nervous to be near the big horses. When they get to know us, they find out that horses are really nice to be around. Then they feel much more comfortable meeting the big horses! We live in the petting zoo, but we love to come out and play. Sometimes the brothers and sisters of people doing therapy come along just to meet us and to play with us. What fun we have!
